From sharing the court to sharing a life, WNBA star Breanna Stewart and her partner, former WNBA player Marta Xargay Casademont, have been happily married for almost four years.

The New York Liberty’s star Breanna Stewart first met her partner at Dynamo Kursk, a Russian professional women’s basketball club where both she and Marta played from 2018 to 2019.

According to reports, Breanna’s injury in 2019 led to the beginning of their romantic relationship. In a short YouTube movie from TOGETHXR x Bleacher Report, Marta revealed that their relationship started the night Breanna got injured.

Breanna also said,

“I just remember like being in such a place where it was like, you know, something terrible happened, and then at the same time something amazing happened,Me being injured was like a blessing in disguise,Those moments and memories were huge for kind of what helped blossom our relationship into what it is.”

Moreover, their connection flourished, and the couple decided to get engaged in May 2021 while Breanna Stewart was playing for the WNBA’s Seattle Storm and Russian team UMMC Ekaterinburg.

The WNBA star Breanna Stewart and her partner Marta are blessed with two children: a daughter named Ruby and a son, Theo Josep Stewart Xargay.

The couple welcomed their first child, daughter Ruby, via surrogate on August 9, 2021, after Breanna froze her eggs in 2019 while she was injured and not playing.

Ruby’s birth was a precious moment for Breanna, as she was born the day after she won her second Olympic gold medal in Tokyo.

They welcomed their second child, son Theo Josep Stewart Xargay, on October 25, 2023.

Marta Xargay Casademont was born in Girona, Spain, on December 20, 1990.

Like Breanna, Marta also contributed greatly to sports. For her exceptional basketball skills, she won several honorable titles, including three gold medals in EuroBasket, a silver medal in the 2016 Olympics, and silver and bronze medals in the World Cup, representing Spain.

Marta played for the Phoenix Mercy of the WNBA and several European teams in the Czech Republic, Russia, and Spain.

Moreover, she played for the Spain women’s national basketball team from 2011 to 2020 and won EuroLeague Women 2010-2011.
