Similarly, the 2016 Broyles Award winner took on the job as the Clemson Tigers’ defensive coordinator in 2012.
Moreover, he served for the Tigers until 2021 and joined the University of Oklahoma as the head coach, replacing Lincoln Riley.
Brent Venables Wife: Julie
Born on September 14, 1973, in Hutchinson, Kansas, Brent Venables’ wife Julie Anne Fisher is the daughter of Vicki and Carl Fisher.
Mrs. Venables attended Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas, where she met her future husband.
Brent and Julie met at KSU, where Brent was already a senior and Julie was a freshman.
The couple began dating casually in 1993 and officially embarked on their journey as a committed couple in 1995.
Later, Julie transferred to Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas, and completed her nursing degree. Eventually, after dating for a few years, the couple tied the knot in July 1997.
Julie worked as a nurse at Memorial Hospital before becoming a full-time mom after the birth of their first child, Jake.
Later the Venables couple welcomed three other children, Tyler, Laney, and Addie.
Following their father’s footsteps, Jake is a football player as an external linebacker at Wren High School, whereas Tyler plays quarterback at Daniel High School.
Cancer Diagnosis And Health Update
Brent Venables disclosed that his wife, Julie, was diagnosed with breast cancer on June 16, 2023. She underwent surgery after a month on July 28 in New Orleans.
On Tuesday, Oklahoma’s head coach gave a good report on his wife Julie, sharing that the surgery went well. He has high hopes that additional treatments will not be necessary.
While doctors are optimistic that Julie’s disease has not progressed to her lymph nodes, he emphasized that they will shortly decide if she needs additional chemotherapy or radiation treatments.
Moreover, the 52-year-old football coach expressed his gratitude to everyone for their prayers and support over the past few months.
“We got a diagnosis on June 16th that was knock you off your feet. There’s no blueprint on how you handle it. I appreciate everybody here that’s reached out. It’s been nothing short of amazing,” Venables said in an interview about the diagnosis.
During this trying period, the Venables family has turned to their faith and those around them.
Brent appreciated Julie’s tenacity and mentioned that she had been a nurse in the past. Her battle with cancer reminded him of his later mother, whom he lost to cancer.
While Venables was working as an assistant in Oklahoma, his mother, Nancy Schumaker, died of cancer.
