Tim Jr.’s beloved wife, Stephie, remains away from the limelight, focusing on managing the family and supporting their close‑knit life together.

Tim Harkness, born Thomas William Harkness on December 23, 1937, in Lachine, Quebec, was a Canadian professional baseball player.

He began his career with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1961 before joining the New York Mets, where he played from 1963 to 1964.

Though his MLB career was relatively brief, he contributed to the sport beyond his playing days by working as a scout.

Tragically, Harkness passed away on November 30, 2025, in Courtice, Ontario, at the age of 87.

He is survived by his son, Tim Harkness Jr., grandsons, Dylan Harkness and Brodie Harkness, and extended family.

Tim Harkness Jr. has dedicated much of his life to coaching and developing young baseball talent in Ontario.

He is the son of Canadian baseball player Tim Harkness and has carried forward his father’s sporting legacy through coaching and mentorship.

He has built an impressive coaching career in Ontario baseball, serving as head coach of the Clarington Orioles from 2006 to 2009.

Then, he worked as an associate coach with OBJ from 2009 to 2013 before spending nearly a decade as an assistant coach at Durham College (2015–2023).

More recently, he has been part of the Oshawa Legionaires program, acting as assistant coach for the 15U Elite team in 2023–24.

Recently, he stepped up as coach of the 16U Elite Oshawa Legionaires in 2024–25, and is set to lead the 18U Elite team in 2025–26.

Additionally, he has led the Durham College Lords, shaping collegiate players with his experience and dedication to the game.

His commitment to baseball extends to his family, as his sons, Dylan and Brodie, have both played collegiate ball.
