Baseball standout Santiago Rhone tragically passed away at just 15 years, leaving behind a grieving family, school, and community.
The report suggests that Rhone lost his life in a motorcycle/ pedestrian accident.
Santiago Rhone’s Family And Community Members Are Grieving Over The Heartbreaking Loss!
Santiago Rhone was a talented student-athlete from Des Moines, Iowa, known for his dedication to both academics and sports.
Standing 5’11” and weighing 170 pounds, he played for Canes Iowa 14U – Gibson and was a right-handed pitcher, first baseman, and third baseman.
A member of the Class of 2028, Santiago attended East High School, where he also excelled in track and field.
His brother Diaz Rhone once shared,
“Man I swear my youngest son has me wanting to go hard everyday no brakes. This young man loves baseball so much and puts his whole heart into it, puts in every drop of work and never quits. Your drive inspires me baby boy thank you.”
Off the field, Santiago was a kind and hardworking student who actively participated in school activities and always gave his best.
Santiago Rhone’s loss has deeply affected his family and East High School as well, where he was loved by many for his dedication.
His passing has left a void in the heart of his family, especially his mother, Shannon Gillespie, his younger brother, Paxton, and many.
Moreover, many of Rhone’s classmates, coaches, and those who knew him paid heartfelt tribute on social media.
One of his well-wishers wrote:

In his honor, the school has organized a memorial service to celebrate his life and the impact he had on those around him.
Moreover, his brother stated that the memorial candle lighting and balloon release will take place on September 24, 2025, at 7:00 PM at the East High School baseball field.
Family, friends, and teammates will gather to share memories and pay tribute to a young man whose potential and kindness touched many lives.
