In July 2022, a sex scandal incident from 2018 came to light, which involved players from the 2018 World Junior Canadian team.
As reported, eight unidentified players allegedly assaulted a woman “sexually” in a hotel following the team’s gold-medal victory at the 2018 tournament in Buffalo.
Since Carter Hart was also part of the team, there were rising queries about whether he had any potential connection to the scandal.
Hart’s attorney, Scott Fenton, stated that the NHL goalie did not engage in any wrongdoing; he cooperated with the Police Service investigation and was “cleared of any wrongdoing.”
