Beginning of the Journey of Becoming an Olympian

Chen started diving from a very young age. It can be assumed seeing the caliber that he has inside the pool.

The young athlete has been diving since he was in primary school. In fact, he competed casually and for school since then. He was selected by sports school coach Tan Jingyu in 2001. Aisen was a six years old kindergarten student at that time.

Jingyu saw Aisen and thought of training that young boy into becoming the Olympic champion in diving one day. The story of Chen Aisen ‘The Olympian’ hence began.

Aisen practiced gymnastics first and then started learning to dive at the age of 7.

Aisen went to Jinan University in Guangzhou and graduated from there. He majored in International Economics and Trade.

When he won two gold medals at the 2016 Olympics, he created history for Jinan University by becoming the first people to win gold from Jinan.

Chen Aisen – Diving Career

Aisen participated at the East Asian Games’ men’s 10m synchronized event in 2009 held in Hong Kong. He won a gold medal partnering with Zhang Yanquan. It is fascinating to know that he was just 14 when he achieved this victory.

Likewise, he participated in the FINA Diving Grand Prix competitions for several years, winning many medals.

Similarly, Chen won the 10m synchro event at the Asian Championships in 2014 when he partnered with his 2009 buddy Zhang Yanquan.
