The Citronelle High School football family and the entire Mobile County community are heartbroken after the passing of former Wildcats quarterback Jamereo Monigan at just 19 years old.
On Wednesday, the Citronelle Wildcats football program shared the devastating news on social media with a touching tribute:
“Please be in prayer for one of our former Wildcats family. Once a Wildcat, always family. Today, our hearts are heavy for Jamereo’s loved ones. J, you will always be a part of this brotherhood, this community, and this family. The Wildcat family stands with and covers the family in prayer. Watch over us #44!”

Jamereo, who wore number 44, was a standout senior in the Class of 2025 and one of the most exciting players to come through Citronelle in recent years.
Known for his strong arm, quick release, and leadership on the field, he drew attention from college recruiters and gave the small town plenty of Friday nights to cheer about.
Even after graduating, he remained a beloved figure among coaches, teammates, and the younger players who looked up to him.
Born in September 2006, Jamereo was raised in Mobile, Alabama, by his mother Celess Monigan alongside his sister Jaliyali.
Friends remember him as a protective big brother, a loyal friend, and someone who could light up any room with his smile.
As of now, the family has not released the cause of death, and many are respecting their privacy during this difficult time.
Since the news broke, social media has been filled with memories and messages of love.

In a town where high school football brings everyone together, losing someone so young and so full of promise has left a hole that won’t be filled anytime soon.
Number 44 may no longer be on the field, but everyone agrees Jamereo Monigan will always be a Wildcat.
Rest easy, J. The whole community is holding your mom, your sister, and your loved ones a little tighter tonight.
