Frank played football since his high school days. During his freshman year at Purdue, he played as a left end backup.
By the time of his senior year, Frank became the team’s captain after switching to defensive tackle. But in October of his last year in college, Frank broke his leg in a match against Wisconsin, which ended his collegiate career.
The leg injury walked him through the spring of 1992 before he finally joined the NFL Scouting Combine in February. But he got rejected because of his bench press and measurements.
Soon, Frank Kmet commenced working on his pre-draft measurables and entered the 1992 NFL Draft. The Buffalo Bills selected him as the 111th overall pick in the fourth round.
Just a few days after his draft, the Bills released him, and the Green Bay Packers signed him in. The team also released him, and then he began playing on the Browns’ practice squad.
In 1993, the Chicago Bears took him on the team and then assigned him to the practice squad. First, he played in the offensive line as a guard and later played as a center.
Later in the 1995 offseason, Frank had an infected finger and returned for the offseason games in 1996. Then, he switched his position to be in the defensive line before concluding his career as an athlete.
Post-Retirement
After his retirement, Frank started a monthly newspaper alongside the defensive tackle Jim Flanigan. The newspaper, Timeout covered Chicago-area high school sports.
