Collin Morikawa has a younger brother, Garrett Morikawa, who has a different interest than Collin; Garett loves soccer.

Collin Morikawa is an American professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour and European Tour.

Born and raised in LA, Morikawa started playing golf at five, and interestingly he is the only member in his family who is passionate about the sport.

Collin started getting lessons at Scholl Canyon in Glendale. As he was not old enough, his parents had to convince the organizers to let him in.

For his collegiate years, the professional golfer had an overwhelming number of offers, but he chose Cal-Berkeley.

As a member of Cal’s golf team, he was Pac-12 Men’s Golfer of the Year as a senior and was named to PING Division I All-Region for all four seasons.

His professional career began at the 2019 RBC Canadian Open, and after tying for 4th at John Deere Classic, Collin secured PGA Tour membership for the 2019-20 season.

Morikawa began his PGA Tour career with 22 consecutive made cuts, only second to Tiger Woods’ 25-cut streak.

In 2020, he claimed his first major title at Harding Park during his PGA Championship debut and won the 2021 Open Championship.

Similarly, he won the Race to Dubai on the European Tour, becoming the first American to win the tournament.

Collin was born as the eldest child to Debble and Blaine Morikawa. He has a younger sibling, a brother, Garrett Morikawa.

Debble and Blaine co-own a commercial laundry business that supplies linens and towels throughout restaurants in LA.

Collin’s parents were not rich by made enough to support him and his brother, who is 6-7 years younger.

Garrett Morikawa is currently enrolled at the University of California Riverside. He is a business major and aims to focus on marketing or management.

At UCR, he is also a member of the Surf Club, where he assists and instructs future surfers with the basics of surfing in the ocean.

The youngest Morikawa also involves himself in volunteer work. He has volunteered in Project Angel Food, where they serve the homeless and underfed.

Moreover, following his interest in soccer, he has followed soccer coaches for a local youth soccer club, where he learned how to manage the teams and players.

The talented golfer is married to Kathrine Zhu. Katherine was born to Chinese parents on January 13, 1996, in Vancouver, Canada.

She completed her high school in China before returning to North America to pursue her further education.

Zhu comes from an athletic family; her father, Mike Chu, was a tennis player, and her mother ran track.

Katherine played tennis as a child and later started playing golf as a teenager. As a member of Pepperdine University Waves, she appeared in 39 events over the course of 4 seasons and had three top-10 and seven top-20 finishes.

Collin and Katherine met through a mutual friend, and they started dating in March 2017.

After dating for several years, Morikawa asked Zhu to marry him in November 2021. The pair tied the knot on November 26, 2022.

They do not have any children as of now, but they pet a dog named Koa.
