After attending their first-ever Dallas Cowboys game, a lifelong fan and his spouse had their world turned upside down when they were viciously attacked while attempting to diffuse an argument at AT&T Stadium.

For Wenceslao Gonzalez, the day began as a dream come true—his wife, Lindsey Gonzalez, and daughter, Emma Gonzalez, surprised him with tickets to watch his favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys, take on the Baltimore Ravens in Arlington on September 22.

However, what started as a birthday celebration quickly turned into a nightmare.

But who knew that a dream-come-true occasion would turn into a nightmare for the Gonzalez family and that their first game would also be their last?

What Happened After The Game With The Gonzalez Couple

The long-time Cowboys fan and their daughter were exiting the stadium after the game when they came into an intriguing scenario that caused the assault against them.

Witnesses described a frightening scene as they noticed a man angrily yelling at a terrified woman, prompting them to step in.

The victim, who appeared intimidated and distressed, reminded Lindsey of her own daughter.

“I just couldn’t stand by and do nothing,”
“She was sobbing, scared, and looked about the same age as my daughter.”

Driven by a sense of responsibility, Lindsey intervened, advising the woman to leave the man. That’s when the situation escalated. According to reports, 32-year-old Rafael Ramirez, who had been confronting the woman, suddenly turned on Lindsey and Wenceslao.

Ramirez first struck Wenceslao in the face before targeting Lindsey when she attempted to separate the two men. The next thing she remembers is waking up in the hospital.

I don’t remember anything after he hit me,” Lindsey recounted. “I was knocked out cold.”

The attack left her with 12 facial fractures, including severe damage to her left eye, cheek, and nose, along with a broken jaw.

Doctors are concerned that she will never look the same again, despite their best efforts to fix the fractures with four metal plates.

The Gonzalez family went on GoFundMe to appeal to the community for aid with the high hospital and recovery fees, and they claim they haven’t been able to work since the tragedy and are still healing.

The family is also perplexed as to why there were no additional police or security personnel at the Cowboys Way and AT&T Way intersection as fans exited the stadium.

Lindsey stated that she never anticipated this could happen while attempting to help someone and would think twice before getting involved in such a circumstance.

Emma, who attended the game with her parents and attempted to halt the assault, stated,

Because if he could do this to people who just walked by and said something – we didn’t do anything to him, all we did was walk by and say something. If he could do something to this extent, to random people, who knows what he was doing to her, you know?
