DiJonai Carrington’s Father Is A Former Football Player, While Her Mother Is A Former Track And Field Athlete

Born on October 10, 1966, in Bronx, New York, United States, DiJonai Victoria Carrington, 58, was raised by her father, Darren, and her mother, Vickie Carrington.

Her father, Darren Russell Carrington, 58, is a former professional football player who has played for five different teams in the NFL.

He played college football for the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks, averaging over 27 yards per kickoff return, with a career-best of 99 yards.

As a senior in 1988, he had 39 tackles, two interceptions, and two forced fumbles, which was enough to get him selected in the 5th round of the 1989 NFL draft.

On the other hand, DiJonai’s mother, Vickie, 61, born in March 1964, was a college-level track and field athlete at the University of Northern Arizona.

According to Vickie’s LinkedIn profile, she received her bachelor’s degree from Northern Arizona University in May 1990 and later earned her master’s degree from California Baptist University.

She served as the athletic counselor, associate athletic director, and head girls’ basketball coach at Christian Unified School for over five years.

Since August 2022, she has been serving as the marketing director at World Finance Group and as an educator and basketball coach at Santa Fe Christian Schools.

She shares a close bond with her mother, Vickie. On March 7, 2024, DiJonai took to her official Instagram handle and wished Vickie a happy 60th birthday.

Dallas Wings’ Guard DiJonai Carrington Grew Up With Her Two Siblings

DiJonai Victoria Carrington grew up playing basketball with her sister, Diarra, and her brother, Darren Carrington Jr.

Diarra, 35, was born on December 31, 1989, and attended Horizon Christian Academy in her hometown of San Diego, California.

She played basketball for the University of New Orleans during the 2012-13 women’s basketball season.

A transfer from Gillette College, she appeared in 11 games for the Privateers, starting twice and averaging 3.5 points and 2.0 rebounds per game before her season was cut short by injury.

She had a standout performance against Nicholls State, scoring a career-high 11 points. Before UNO, she averaged 5.1 points and 2.2 rebounds over 20 games at Gillette.

Off the field, Diarra majored in Elementary Education.

On the other hand, DiJonai’s brother Darren Jr was a wide receiver who recorded 105 receptions for 1,305 yards and 28 touchdowns over 35 regular-season games.

After college, he participated in the NFL Combine and signed as an undrafted free agent with the Dallas Cowboys, later joining the Toronto Argonauts’ practice squad in the CFL.

Reportedly, Darren Jr was dismissed from football following a DUI arrest on July 1, 2017. He was booked in Lane County Jail in Eugene.
