Jadon Carnes has always known basketball would be a major part of his life, but his journey from Concord, North Carolina, to scoring 1,000 points at Revard College is a story of faith, hard work, and dedication.
Originally from Concord, just outside Charlotte, Carnes grew up in a state renowned for its basketball culture.
Surrounded by legendary NBA players, iconic college programs, and a supportive family, he developed a passion for the sport early on.
“My family has always loved sports,” Carnes recalls.
“My dad played college tennis, but he’s a huge basketball fan. He built a hoop in our driveway, not for us, but so he could play with his friends. That kind of environment pushed me to play and grow in basketball.”

At Mount Pleasant High School, Carnes’ dedication became evident. Starting on junior varsity his freshman year, he quickly earned a spot on varsity as a sophomore.
Over the years, he helped transform the Mount Pleasant program into a respected contender, learning skills and discipline that would prepare him for college basketball.
Transitioning to Revard College was another step forward. Carnes wanted to play close to home and saw an opportunity to contribute immediately.
He embraced the team’s culture, worked tirelessly in the weight room, and refined his skills under the guidance of coaches who emphasized consistency and discipline.
“Mount Pleasant definitely prepared me, but college basketball is a whole new level,” Carnes said.
“The physicality, the pace, and the talent are on another level. You have to adapt quickly and consistently bring your best to the court.”

The payoff has been remarkable. This season, Carnes reached the milestone of 1,000 points, joining an exclusive club at Revard.
Yet, for him, the achievement is about more than personal stats.
“At the end of the day, I care about winning as a team,” he said.
“The 1,000 points are special, but the support of my teammates and the opportunity to compete in this system make it even more meaningful.”

Beyond basketball, Carned is equally committed to his faith and his community. He has been active in the Christ Club, led worship nights, and volunteered across campus.
“Being a student-athlete is important, but living for the Lord and helping others is what matters most,” he said.
“That’s bigger than any point I’ve scored.”

Looking ahead, Carnes plans to remain involved in basketball through coaching and mentorship, aiming to impact young athletes both on and off the court.
His dedication to faith, family, and basketball has made his journey from Concord to Revard not only successful but inspiring.
“I just try to live my life for my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,” Carnes said.
“Everything else, including basketball, is an opportunity to serve, grow, and give back.”
