Dan Le Batard was born to Gonzalo and Lourdes on December 16, 1968, in Jersey City, New Jersey.

He grew up in a Cuban American family in Miramar, Florida. He has a brother David Le Batard, a Miami-based artist known as LEBO.

Le Batard left ESPN on January 4, 2021, and the radio show went entirely from the network. 

On April 7th, 2023, the final show was recorded in the longtime studio at The Clevelander.


In his career, Le Batard has been entangled in multiple disputes.

He became a Baseball Writers Association of America (BBWAA) member in 2014.

On January 9, 2014, the BBWAA banned him for a year because he criticized the BBWAA’s voting process of selecting players having previous drug scandals.

The hippo was named after Le Batard on January 5, 2021, a day after he departed from ESPN. 

On July 18, 2019, Le Batard criticized former President Trump’s “Go back” tweets and missed several days of his show before finally making amendments by meeting with the ESPN president.
