The American professional tennis athlete was born on December 13, 1993, to her parents, Walter Collins and Cathy Collins.
Joel Collins is Danielle’s only sibling. Both siblings spent their entire childhood together in Florida.
Danielle’s dad got her into tennis at the age of 3. The 85-year-old father, Walter himself, was a recreational player in his initial days.
Until she turned eight, her father personally coached her in tennis before enrolling her in a tennis club. There she was tutored by professionals, further helping her enhance her skills.
Moreover, her mother, Cathy, ensured that Collins balanced her growing passion for tennis with her studies.
With proper guidance from her mother, she completed a double bachelor’s degree with a major in Liberal Arts & Sciences Exploratory and another in Media Studies & Business.

Danielle’s parents accompanied her during her early morning practices at 4:30 am, with her mother taking care of household chores and her father driving her to her practice.

A Heated Exchange
As much as one can control, keeping your composure on the tennis court can be challenging.
A second-round matchup at the National Bank Open between two top-ranked tennis pro-Maria Sakkari and Danielle Collins, flared up into a heated exchange.
This incident happened Wednesday night after Collins took issue with Sakkari, who spiked a ball into the crowd.
Moreover, after being dissatisfied with the lack of discipline handed down to Sakkari, she questioned the chair umpire, “Did you just see that? Did you see what happened?”
Sakkari replied that it didn’t even hit anyone, and the ball was on the ground. Collins then responded strongly and stated, “Shut your mouth. Shut your mouth”.
Lastly, the chair umpire had no other option but to take the matter into her hands and control the situation. The game continued shortly after.
