Danilo Gallinari commenced his professional playing career in 2005 for Casalpusterlengo. It was a team in Serie B1 (third level in Italy).

However, Gallinari was then acquired by Armani Jeans Milano in 2005. Later, he was sent to Edimes Pavia for the 2005-2006 season.

The team was competing in the Italian League second division championship. But Danilo played only half of the season due to an injury.

He averaged 14.3 points, 3.4 rebounds, 0.8 assists, and 2.0 steals in 7 games. Likewise, he was nominated as the best Italian player in the Italian league’s second-division championship.

Olimpia Milano

In 2006, Gallinari played for Olimpia Milano in the 2006-07 Seria-A season and ULEB Cup. Additionally, Gallinari was named the league’s best player (U-22) in his first season.

On 22 February 2011, Gallinari was traded to Denver Nuggets in a three-team trade. Moreover, he scored career-high 30 points with the Nuggets in his second game against Portland Trail Blazers.

Gallinari returned to Italy to play Emporio Armani Milan during the 2011 NBA lockout.

The basketball star signed a multi-year contract extension with the Nuggets in January 2012.
