Danuel House is an American basketball player who plays professionally for the Utah Jazz in the NBA League.

Early Life, Family & High School

Danuel Kennedy House Jr. was born to Danuel House Sr. and Lisa House on June 7, 1993.

House was born in Texas and joined Hightower High School in Missouri City as a kid. He started playing basketball with his schoolmates and progressed rapidly. In addition, he was good at his studies.

The coaches in his school became quite impressed with his playing skills, even as a young trainee, giving him more playing time. In return, he played incredibly well for the team. He averaged 13.9 points, 1.1 blocks, and 5.4 rebounds per game in his junior year.

Stepping up in his senior year, House became a much better player and improved his stats. As a senior, he scored an average of 26.0 points, 2.1 assists, and 6.2 rebounds per game.

House assisted Hightower in finishing the season with a 29-9 record that year and managed to get listed as one of the top players by sports review companies such as ESPNU 100 and Scout.com. 

House spent his childhood happily with his parents and four other siblings in Fourth Ward. He has three brothers, Jerrel, Terrel, and Daniel III.

Moreover, he has a younger sister, Dannisha. His siblings gave him great support and motivation to become the Danuel House he is today.

Sadly, the Utah Jazz forward received a huge blow when he lost four of his family members in a car accident in March 2021. The members to die in that accident were his sister-in-law and her three kids.

Danuel House | Career

College Career

Danuel House decided to go to the University of Houston to play college basketball. The team had much confidence in him, so they allowed him to start 27 of 33 games in his first year.

He averaged 12.4 points per game in his first year, proving his team management right. He averaged 19.6 points and 9.4 rebounds per game in his sophomore year.

House became the leading scorer for Cougars, but sadly, he had to leave the Cougars due to personal reasons just after the second year.

However, he soon started attending Texas A&M University to continue his college basketball. He appeared for the Aggies in every initial game except three in his junior year.

His performance did not fade even though he made a sudden transition. House averaged 16.2 points per game that season to earn first-team All-SEC honors. However, he had a foot injury and missed the last four matches.

In his senior year, House recorded 15.6 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game in his last season. He scored as many as 50 points in just the initial three games that season and shocked the spectators.

With his amazing season that year, he assisted his team in reaching the Battle 4 Atlantis finals. However, they lost the match against Syracuse.

The Aggies shared the SEC Championship with Kentucky that season. In addition, House recorded 17.0 points per game throughout the tournament, and his performance him a place in second-team All-SEC.

Professional Career

Washington Wizards

Danuel House tried his luck in the 2016 NBA draft after being marked as one of the country’s best young prospects in his college career. Sadly, he remained undrafted.

Following this unfortunate episode, he signed a contract with the Washington Wizards for the NBA Summer League on September 23, 2016.

On November 11, 2016, Danuel debuted against the Cleveland Cavaliers for the Wizards. However, soon after, he had to remain outside the court due to a wrist injury and took a very long to recover.

He just played one match for the Wizards before the club released him on March 1, 2017. In the meantime, he played some games for the Delaware 87ers in the NBA Development League.

Phoenix Suns 

After being waived by the Wizards, House briefly joined the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in October. He played throughout November for the Vipers averaging 17.7 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game while there.

Phoenix Suns recruited House to sign a two-way contract on December 8, 2017. He started playing in the NBA G League for the Phoenix Suns and the Northern Arizona Suns.

On December 9, he made a debut for the Suns against the San Antonio Spurs, scoring 2 points and a rebound. House continued playing for both Suns until June 2018. 

He renewed his contract after the previous two-year contract expired on February 23. He had 6.6 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game in the 2017-18 season.

Houston Rockets

On December 6, 2018, House signed a two-way contract with the Houston Rockets. Before that, he played for their affiliate club, Vipers, in the NBA G League. However, the club had released him just two days earlier.

After joining the Rockets, the club again sent him to the Vipers. House played in the NBA G League and had outstanding numbers that season.

Impressed by his performance, the Rockets officially entered him into the standard NBA contract the same season. Following Chris Paul’s injury on March 15, the forward joined the line-up against Suns, his former club. He scored a season-best 18 points in just 35 minutes of play.

The club extended a three-year contract on June 30, and he remained there until December 18, 2021. In the meantime, House was suspended for violating Covid-19 regulations for two games.

To make the situation worse, he was also charged for bringing some unknown female guest inside his hotel room. 

He failed to attend the remainder of the 2019-20 season following the incident.

The player is on a third 10-day contract with the Utah Jazz starting from January 28.

Their elder son, Danuel IV, was born in 2017. After about two years of DAnuel IV’s birth. They named him Brady House in honor of the NFL star, Tom Brady. Both husband and wife are huge fans of football.

Their relationship was smooth until the athlete got involved in a scandal involving an unauthorized woman in September 2020. The player was accused of bringing her into his hotel room for several hours, and he was punished accordingly.

Quite expectedly, this severed his relationship with his wife, Whitney. Following the incident, she removed his photos from her social media accounts.
