George Dario Marino Franchitti, famous as Dario Franchitti, is a former racing driver who works as a British motorsport commentator. Read the article till the end to learn about his family, parents, wife, and children. 

Born in Bathgate, West Lothian, Scotland, Dario is one of the most accomplished drivers in American open-wheel racing history.

The former racing driver started his racing career in karting before transitioning to single-seater racing.

He participated in the British Formula 3 Championship and the Formula Vauxhall Championship before making his Indy Lights Feeder series for the IndyCar Series debut in 1997.

Franchitti made a transition to the IndyCar Series in 2002, where he enjoyed a remarkable career, including four championships and three Indianapolis 500 victories.

He has won 31 races in the IndyCar Series, which solidified his position as one of the most successful drivers in the competition’s history.

In 2003, Franchitti joined the AGR squad in the Indy Racing League, but an injury prevented him from competing in more than three races.

Franchitti was born in Bathgate, West Lothian, Scotland, on 19 May 1973 to his father, George Franchitti, and his mother, Marina Franchitti.

Marina is the owner of her own company, Dario Hurtles, and George is an ice cream parlor owner and an amateur racing driver.  

Dario was given a go-kart with a Honda engine when he was three years old. Since his father introduced him to the West of Scotland Kart Club and other kart tracks as a small child, Dario dreamed of becoming a racing driver at an early age.

His father has been a constant source of support throughout his racing career. To finance his racing, Franchitti’s father remortgaged the family house.

Similarly, Dario’s mother has also played a significant role in shaping Franchitti’s journey to him becoming one of the most accomplished drivers in the history of American open-wheel racing.

Franchitti’s family relocated from Bathgate to Whitburn when he was eight years old. He completed his early education at the fee-paying Stewart’s Melville College in Edinburgh.

Dario Franchitti comes from a family with a strong motorsport background. He has a younger brother named Marino Franchitti.

Marino is also a racing driver. He has spent the majority of his career racing in sports cars and grand tourers. 

Born on 7th July 1978, Marino is married to Holly Mason.

Similarly, Dario has a sister named Stephanie Crystal Franchitti. She was born on July 15, 1983, in Whitburn, Scotland. She is also a racer and made her racing debut in Formula 1 in the 2004 season.

Dario married Ashley Judd in December 2001, and they were together for 12 years. However, they did not have any children during their relationship. They got divorced in 2015, ending their marriage.

Currently, Franchitti is happily married to Eleanor Robb. They exchanged vows in a private ceremony in 2015. Together, they are enjoying a blissful and happy life.

The couple has two daughters, Sofia Franchitti and Valentina Franchitti. Sofia is the elder one, and she was born in November 2015, whereas Valentina is the youngest and was born in February 2019.
