Hailing from Tallmadge, Ohio, the American football executive, David Ziegler was born on September 7, 1977.

He played collegiate football at John Carroll University, where he was teammates with Nick Caserio, Josh McDaniels, and Jerry Schuplinksi.

Ziegler began his career with the Denver Broncos as a player personnel assistant in 2010.

The New England Patriots then hired him in 2013, and he worked with the team for nine years.

During his tenure, he became a three-time Super Bowl champion, contributing to the team as an assistant director of pro scouting, director of player personnel, and assistant director of player personnel.

On January 30, 2022, he was named the general manager of the Las Vegas Raiders but was fired on October 31, 2023.

Raiders Fire GM Dave Ziegler & Head Coach Josh McDaniels

The Raiders have made a surprising late-night move, firing both head coach Josh McDaniels and General Manager Dave Ziegler.

In a statement, team owner Mark Davis remarked,

“After much thought about what the Raiders need to move forward, I have decided to part ways with Josh and Dave. I want to thank them both for their hard work and wish them and their families nothing but the best.”

The decision comes following the Raiders’ 26-14 loss to Detroit on “Monday Night Football,” marking their second consecutive defeat, bringing the team’s record to 3-5.

Davis had appointed both McDaniels and Ziegler simultaneously in January 2022, with both individuals having affiliations with the Patriots organization.

McDaniels was in his second tenure as the team’s offensive coordinator, and Ziegler served as New England’s director of player personnel.

To fill the void, the Raiders have designated linebackers coach Antonio Pierce as their interim head coach.

They also announced that current assistant general manager Champ Kelly will step in as interim GM.

Furthermore, the Raiders have underscored their intention to embark on an extensive search for a new permanent head coach and GM once the 2023 season concludes.
