Born on June 6, 1992, the football wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins is 31 years old as of 2024.

The Houston Texans drafted the Clemson alumnus in the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft.

On Friday, the Arizona Cardinals made a significant announcement, revealing that Hopkins has been released. This marks the end of his three-season tenure with the organization.

This decision comes after a period of uncertainty surrounding Hopkins’ future in Arizona. This began following changes in the team’s general manager and head coach positions after the 2022 season.

According to NFL Network, the Cardinals will carry a $22.6 million dead cap hit into the next season for the five-time Pro Bowler.

During a recent appearance on the “I Am Athlete” podcast, Hopkins candidly discussed his preferences for the front office of a franchise, emphasizing the importance of stable management.

Reflecting on his career journey from Houston to Arizona, he expressed his desire for a consistent leadership structure, highlighting that he has experienced multiple changes in general managers over the past few years.

Hopkins stated, “What I want is stable management upstairs. I think that’s something that has been lacking in my career, transitioning from Houston to Arizona, where I’ve encountered three to four GM changes.”

Potential Landing Spots For Hopkins

Although no team was willing to assume Hopkins’s base salary of $19.4 million in 2023 and sacrifice draft capital, his release now presents an opportunity for creative solutions.

However, with the recent signing of Odell Beckham Jr. to a one-year deal worth $15 million (potentially $18 million with incentives), the question arises of whether Hopkins would consider accepting a reduced salary from his original expectations.

Despite being limited to just nine games last year, Hopkins showcased his exceptional skills by amassing 64 receptions for 717 yards and three touchdowns.

Approaching his 31st birthday, he clearly demonstrates that he is far from finished.

Below we present you the potential landing spots for Hopkins in the league:

  • Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs aim to achieve a remarkable feat by becoming the first team since the 2003–04 Patriots to win back-to-back championships.

While they are considered the favorites to achieve this, they have a noticeable gap in their roster at the wide receiver position.

Addressing this need and bolstering their receiving corps will be crucial for the Chiefs’ pursuit of becoming champions.

  • Buffalo Bills

The Bills General Manager Brandon Beane finds himself facing immense pressure following the team’s disappointing playoff exit last season.

Despite being favored to win the Super Bowl by many sportsbooks, the Bills stumbled in the divisional round with a 27-10 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.

Recognizing the need for improvement, Beane is now tasked with making strategic moves to address the team’s shortcomings and propel the Bills to greater success in the future.

  • New York Giants

Following a surprising playoff run, the New York Giants are looking to enhance their offensive capabilities on the perimeter.

Despite securing quarterback Daniel Jones with a $40 million per year deal this offseason, they recognize the need to elevate his performance further.

Acquiring a receiver like Hopkins would significantly contribute to achieving this goal, enabling players such as Darius Slayton, Isaiah Hodgins, and Parris Campbell to assume more suitable roles lower down the depth chart.

The Giants aim to maximize Jones’ potential and strengthen their offensive prowess by bolstering their receiving corps.
