Devin Carter’s parents, Cassie Carter and Anthony Carter, raised Devin and his younger brother Joshua in Miami.

Growing up, Devin had a close relationship with his younger brother, Joshua Carter, and the two spent much of their childhood together.

However, basketball was always the centerpiece of Devin’s life. His father, who had once played in the NBA, introduced him to the sport at a young age, and from then on, Devin was hooked.

As he grew up, Devin’s passion for basketball only grew, and he worked hard to hone his skills on and off the court.

Devin is currently in his third year at Providence College and he made an impressive start to his college basketball career, scoring a personal best of 16 points against Western Kentucky. Carter had a successful time playing college basketball at the University of South Carolina.

Moreover, Anthony had a great year at Brewster Academy in 2020-21, where he improved his skills before moving on to play high school basketball at Doral School for his junior and senior years.

He grew up in Miami playing basketball with his younger brother. Carter was never pressured to play or be a star, as his father helped him keep his priorities straight.

His father would say, “Don’t play basketball because I played it.” He was always there to teach him or work him out, but he never forced him to play.

Devin played football, baseball, and soccer as well.

His father taught him only to do something you loved because you have to give it your all if you want to make it.

Their mother, Cassie, is also supportive of their basketball career.

Father Anthony Is Former NBA Player And Coach

Devin Carter’s father, Anthony Carter, is a retired NBA Player who played for the NBA for 13 years.

This journey included stints with the Miami Heat, San Antonio Spurs, Minnesota Timberwolves, Scafati Basket, Denver Nuggets, and New York Knicks.

After retiring from playing in 2013, Anthony transitioned into coaching, securing a position with the NBA Development League’s Austin Spurs.

Subsequently, on July 31, 2015, he became an assistant coach for the Kings, drawing on his previous coaching experience with the Sioux Falls Skyforce in the NBA’s D-League.

Anthony has contributed to the Miami Heat as a player development coach since September 2021.

Brother Joshua Carter

Devin Carter’s younger brother is Joshua Carter, and he shares his older sibling’s enthusiasm for basketball.
