Joseph ‘Joey’ Williams, a Pennsylvania native and student-athlete at Donegal High School, passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2025, at an untimely age, leaving behind his family and loved ones heartbroken.
The Donegal Boys Basketball team took to their official social media to announce the untimely death of their beloved member, Joey Williams; however, his family hasn’t yet provided details surrounding the actual cause of the demise.

He was a senior at Donegal High School in Mt. Joy, Pennsylvania, and played as a point guard for the boys’ varsity basketball team, leading his team in several victories.
Wearing jersey number 5 and standing at a towering height of 5’9”, Joseph ‘Joey’ won several honorable titles for his remarkable performances.
Over his high school journey, he steadily contributed to Donegal’s performance, helping the team achieve records of 11-8 in his freshman year, 7-10 in his sophomore year, and 8-12 in his junior year, with conference finishes of 3rd, 5th, and 4th, respectively.
Similarly, his individual skill and leadership earned him state rankings of #325 and #346 throughout his journey.
He also led his team to win the 2024 East Pennboro Holiday Tournament Championship and was named tournament MVP and a member of the Sawyer Floyd All-Tournament Team in December 2024.
Despite his untimely passing, the whole community continues to honor his legacy on the basketball court and his kind nature.

The Mt. Joy, PA community has also organized a GoFundMe to support Joey’s family in covering the funeral expenses and easing the financial burden during this difficult time.
The fundraiser aimed to raise $10,000 and, to date, has collected around $12,359, exceeding the goal and reflecting how Joey Williams touched the lives of many.
Joey Williams is survived by his mother, father, Joseph ‘Joe’ Williams Jr, grandparents, Joseph Williams Sr and Barbara Williams, aunt, Kelsey Williams, cousins, and the entire family.
While no information about his mother is available, his father, Joe Williams, often shares the picture of Joey Williams expressing his love and pride for his only son.
Joey’s father, Joe Williams, has been serving as a machine operator at BCI Buckeye Corrugated Inc. in Lancaster, PA, since 2016.
Prior to that, he served as a production lead at WestRock Company for nine years. Joe graduated from Columbia High School.
