Drake Maye was born in Charlotte, North Carolina, on August 30, 2002, to parents Amie and Mark Maye.
He grew up playing football with his father and followed in his footsteps as the second generation of Mayes to play college football.
He excelled in high school football at Myers Park High School in Charlotte and was named the MaxPreps North Carolina player of the year.
Initially committed to Alabama, he later decided to play for the North Carolina Tar Heels as a quarterback.

Luke Maye is a professional basketball player for Tofas of Basketbol Süper Ligi (BSL) and the Basketball Champions League (BCL).
He previously played college basketball for the North Carolina Tar Heels and has had various professional basketball experiences, including stints with the Milwaukee Bucks, Wisconsin Herd, Dolomiti Energia Trento, Baxi Manresa, and Coviran Granada.
Before his pro basketball career, he played high school at William A. Hough High School in Cornelius, North Carolina.
Cole Is A Baseball Player
Cole Maye, born in Huntersville, North Carolina, is the younger brother of basketball player Luke Maye and North Carolina Tar Heels football quarterback Drake Maye.
Unlike his parents and siblings, Cole found his passion for baseball and pursued it as a left-handed pitcher.
He graduated from high school in December 2016 and enrolled early at the University of Florida.
During his early career, Cole played for the Showcase Baseball Academy Marucci National Team and the Charlottesville TomSox in the Valley League (Va.).
Beau Maye Is Also A Basketball Player
Beau Maye, the brother of former UNC basketball player Luke Maye and quarterback Drake.
Maye was a member of the UNC’s basketball team.
Initially, he enrolled at UNC as a regular student after finishing high school. However, in his third year of college, he joined the basketball program as a walk-on.
Although Beau was a team member, he has decided not to participate in the current season and will not be included in the UNC ’23-24 roster. There has been no explanation provided for his departure from the program.
Beau is currently studying exercise and sports science and is anticipated to complete his degree at UNC in 2024.

Drake’s father, Mark Maye, has a rich history with the University of North Carolina’s football program.
In the 1980s, Mark played as a quarterback for the Tar Heels, starting a significant game against Florida State.
After his playing days, Mark became a coach. On the other hand, Drake’s mother, Amiee, has a background in school basketball in the Charlotte area.
