Ethan Paul Coons was a natural athlete who passed away at 23 due to the disease of addiction on December 7, 2025.

He played hockey, baseball, football, and lacrosse.

Ethan lived with a love for motion and the outdoors.

He was a natural and gifted athlete who approached sports with enthusiasm and skill. He played hockey, baseball, football, and lacrosse with a competitive spirit.

Whether on the ice, field, or gridiron, Ethan excelled.

Beyond team sports, Ethan loved the freedom of snowboarding on fresh powder and the quiet patience of fishing.

He spent his early high school years at Duluth East High School and attended Buffalo High School for 11th-12th grade.

Ethan Paul Coons’ Family Mourns the Tragic Loss

Ethan Paul Coons, the son of Karla Dallum and Jeremy Coons, was born on May 14, 2002, in Duluth, Minnesota.

His parents raised him in a close-knit family alongside his siblings, Athena O’Rourke, Skyler Koop, Arren O’Rourke, and Darian Coons.

Ethan was a beloved son, brother, grandson, and friend who passed away after a courageous battle with the disease of addiction.

He was born with a spirit of adventure and a natural athleticism that touched every part of his life. There was no sport he couldn’t master and thrived in motion, challenge, and the joy of play.

However, Ethan was far more than his athletic gifts. He was a carefree and sweet soul, known for his kindness, nurturing heart, and willingness to help anyone in need.

His spirited nature matched a fearless approach to life and a deep love for animals. A simple pleasure like his favorite meal, lasagna, could bring him a genuine smile that those who loved him will hold in their hearts forever.

He is survived by his devoted parents, Karla Dallum and Jeremy Coons, and his siblings, Athena O’Rourke, Skyler Koop, Arren O’Rourke, and Darian Coons.

Similarly, he shared a close bond with his grandparents, Daryl Coons, Mary Coons-Miller & Bob Miller, Dan & Patty Beheng, and Kathy & Michael O’Rourke, and a wide circle of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who loved him more than words can ever express.

Though Ethan’s life ended due to the devastating disease of addiction, it does not define him.

He will be remembered for his vibrant soul, his laughter, his love, and the light he brought into every room.

In his memory, his family urges anyone struggling that they are not alone. Reach out and ask for help. Some people love you with everything they have, and support is always within reach.

Finding out this morning that the Lord called you home brings major sadness to my heart. Ethan, you were such a beacon of light and amazing soul! I know you’ll be watching over mad eye and all of us, but know you are missed more than you’ll ever know. You touched so many hearts, you will forever be unforgettable 💔 RIP Young Buck.

A funeral service to celebrate Ethan’s life will be held on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at Pineview Funeral Home in Hayward, WI. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m., followed by the service at 11:00 a.m.

Ethan’s fearless spirit lives on in the hearts of all who knew him.
