The Los Angeles Dodgers have recalled Alexis Díaz, brother of Edwin Díaz, from Triple-A Oklahoma City, as the ex-Cincinnati player was already a part of the 40-man roster.

Right-hander Alexis Diaz is now part of the MLB club’s 26-man roster after taking the spot of left-hander Tanner Scott, who was placed on the 15-day injured list.

Scott was left out of the squad after having left elbow inflammation. This marks the first time since 2021 that the 31-year-old pitcher has been on the injured list.

Whereas Alexis Díaz, a 28-year-old, is set to return to the active MLB roster for just the second time.

Alexis Díaz Is Part Of The 26-Man Roster For Just The Second Time

After Alexis Díaz was traded (with Mike Villani) from the Cincinnati Reds to the LA Dodgers on May 29, 2025, he only spent a day with the main squad on July 8.

Díaz was immediately sent to the 40-man roster by placing Evan Philips on the 60-day injured list, while keeping his Triple-A Oklahoma City spot, where he has already made eight appearances.

Brandon Gomes, the GM of the Dodgers, was also highly impressed with Díaz after sending him to the development complex in Arizona when he was just acquired. He said;

“We’ve seen flashes of really good stuff out there. Especially his last outing was super encouraging,”

During Tuesday’s press conference, Dodgers manager also had his say on Díaz;

“Getting somebody that can really take down right-handed hitters is something everyone knows we’re looking at,”

While it has been almost two months since Díaz made his MLB appearance, the Puerto Rican still has a chance to prove he is still capable of being part ot the main roster without any setback to others.

In Case You Didn’t Know

  • Alexis Díaz made his MLB debut for the Cincinnati Reds on April 8, 2022, against the Atlanta Braves.
  • He and his elder brother Edwin faced each other on May 17, 2022, making them just the third set of brothers to do so in MLB.
  • Edwin Díaz debuted in MLB on June 6, 2016, for the Seattle Mariners. He has almost 500 appearances and is currently playing for the New York Mets.
