Though her parents were Canadian, all their children were born in New Zealand. Although they had not intended to stay there for long, they lived in New Zealand for four years after Erin’s birth.
Back in their home in Caledon, Ontario, the three sisters grew up playing various sports, including baseball, tennis, and swimming. The second youngest, Tara, two years younger than Erin, became interested in volleyball.
After high school, Tara moved to the United States and enrolled at Southern Illinois University, where she played volleyball for their college team.
However, she later shifted to the University of the Cumberlands, where she obtained her bachelor’s degree in Human Services and French. Nevertheless, she continued her sports career and played volleyball for the Patriots until graduation in 2018.
Moreover, the youngest of them all, Tess, is a Paralympic swimmer. She won the women’s 200m individual medley SM7 silver medal in the 2016 Summer Paralympics.
Tess won four medals at the 2023 Para Swimming World Championships held in Manchester, England.
