A local high school coach has been relieved of his duties following his arrest this week on serious drug charges.
The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office arrested 44-year-old Kendrick Johnson on Wednesday.
Johnson faces multiple felony charges, including trafficking a synthetic narcotic, using a two-way communication device to facilitate a felony, and racketeering violation.
In response to the arrest, a spokesperson for Escambia County Public Schools confirmed that the district no longer employs Johnson.
Escambia County Public Schools has been made aware of the arrest of an individual who was a coach at one of our schools. We find these allegations, if proven true, to be reprehensible. This employee was terminated immediately after we were made aware of these charges. As always, we are cooperating fully with local law enforcement as the investigation unfolds.
