Early in the morning on April 28, 2025, around 5:30 a.m., a deadly crash involving two vehicles occurred on LA 16 near Old Ferry Road in Livingston Parish. The accident sadly took the life of 26-year-old Chandon Hickerson from Vacherie.
According to the initial investigation, a 2007 Ram 2500 pickup was heading east on LA 16, while a 2014 GMC Sierra, driven by Hickerson, was going west.
The Ram crossed the center line for unknown reasons and hit Hickerson’s vehicle head-on in the opposite lane.
Hickerson was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Ram, who was also not wearing a seatbelt, had moderate injuries and was taken to a hospital.
Chandon Hickerson was a proud two-year football letterman at St. James High School and continued his football journey at East Carolina University.
