The Cumberland, Maryland, community is mourning the recent death of its beloved member and former athlete, Joshua ‘Josh’ Hoenicka, who passed away at an untimely age.
While the details surrounding his untimely death are not yet available, many of his loved ones are paying tribute to Josh Hoenicka and extending their heartfelt condolences to his family during this difficult time.

Josh touched the lives of many with his exceptional athletic abilities and his kind, cheerful nature.
He played football for the boys’ varsity football team while attending Fort Hill High School, winning several honorable titles.
Josh also led his team in several victories throughout his tenure. Although he didn’t continue his athletic journey professionally, his remarkable performance will always be remembered.
He was pursuing his career as an ironworker at Union Ironworker in Cumberland, Maryland. Prior to that, Josh served as a customer service associate at Lowe’s Home Improvement and a warehouse associate at ABC Supply.
He was also a former crew member at Osmose Utilities Services, Inc.
Josh Hoenicka is Survived By His Wife, Keira, Daughter, Raelyn, and the Entire Family
In addition to being an amazing athlete, Josh Hoenicka was a devoted husband to his wife, Keira Brianne Lea, and a great father to his daughter, Raelyn Marie, whom he shared with former partner, Dajaynae Joy Painter.
Late Josh and his wife, Keira Brianne Lea, tied the knot on December 9, 2024, and often expressed their love for each other on social media.
Josh also often shared pictures of his daughter, Raelyn, expressing his love and pride for her.
In addition to his wife and daughter, Josh Hoenicka leaves behind his mother, Becki Mullan, and her partner, Doug Mullan; his father; siblings, Zack (Ami) and Luke Tyler (Erin N. Wilson); nieces and nephews; grandparents, Carol Ann Kiiffner and George; and his entire family.
His nephew, Cole Hoenicka, recently scored his first touchdown against the Hawks and dedicated it to his Uncle, Josh Hoenicka.
