A tragic accident early morning on May 11 claimed the life of 23-year-old Andre Washington, a Jacksonville resident and former football player at Kingsley Junior High.
Authorities say the crash occurred around 6:40 a.m. as a sedan exited I-95 North toward Southside Boulevard.
The vehicle veered off the ramp and struck a tree.
The Florida Highway Patrol confirmed that Washington was wearing a seatbelt, but he died from his injuries at the scene.
So, the exit ramp was closed for several hours while investigators worked, but it has since reopened to traffic.
