Ex-Lions Reggie Brown wife, Kerrie Patterson, was recently felicitated with a title honoring the legacy she has created in Houston. In 2018, the former NFL couple’s dream of opening a charter school came true, and they have done a solid job.
The college sweethearts, Reggie and Kerrie, doubted whether their relationship would last after Reggie turned pro. Their love stood the test of time, and during Reggie’s darkest moments, Kerrie was always there to pick him up.
The motivation behind opening their first charter school, Legacy the School of Sport Sciences, was Reggie’s injury in 1997 that ended his career. Three years after that injury, they married and raised two sons.
In an interview in 2017, the former linebacker said he had taken the role of stay-at-home dad, with Kerrie taking the reign. Earlier this year, when Damar Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest on the field, many were reminded of Reggie’s injury against the Jets.
Ex-Lions Reggie Brown Wife: Is He Still Married To Kerrie Patterson?
Ex-Lions Reggie Brown is still married to his wife, Kerrie Patterson, his college sweetheart. The former NFL couple first crossed paths at Texas A&M, where Reggie became a star player, and Kerrie pursued her higher education.
When the Lions drafted Reggie in the first round, Kerrie expected them to break up. She was certain about it, but that didn’t happen. Instead, the couple stood by each other through their highs and lows.
After tying the knot in 2000, the couple moved to Houston, Texas, where they raised two boys-Reggie Brown Jr and Michael Brown. Brown Jr has followed in his father’s footsteps and currently plays collegiate football for Tulane University.
Reggie’s son plays as a tight end and was a three-star recruit by 247sports.com and rivals.com. He graduated from Legacy School of Sports Science, where he was the second-team all-district selection at tight end.
He has played 11 games this season and has made three receptions and completed 25 yards. The collegiate athlete has kept himself out from social media, and there isn’t much information about his brother.
Reggie And Kerrie Patterson Brown Charter School
While Reggie was pursuing his NFL dreams, Kerrie was an athlete student at Texas A&M. She completed her bachelor’s degree in English Language and Literature and was also a part of the women’s basketball team.
Later on, Kerrie joined the coaching team and became the Assistant of the Women’s Basketball team. After working for two years at Texas A&M, Kerrie worked at Huston-Tillotson University as head coach and later at San Jacinto College as an adjunct instructor.
When Reggie suffered from the traumatic injury, Kerrie took charge of the house. She made it her goal to establish a charter school that would not only cater to young athletes but also shed light on the various career opportunities.
So, in 2011, the couple decided to establish Legacy the School of Sport Sciences. The process that began in 2011 finally came to fruition in 2018. The school opened up to roughly 460 middle and high school students.
In an interview in 2019, Kerrie said the program intended to provide students with a chance to earn either an associate degree or up to sixty college credit hours paired with a high school diploma.
Last month, Kerrie was recognized with the Top 30 Influential Women of Houston title. She shared a photo of her holding the trophy on her Facebook handle, which she rarely uses.
