Michael Roen McCullough’s face was severely injured, split across his right eye and nose, when the hood of his own vehicle flew through the windshield during a car crash in November 2024.

Michael Roen McCullough is a former Ohio State football player who served as a walk-on long snapper from 2018 to 2020.

In August 2025, he was arrested and charged with felony strangulation following a disturbing domestic violence incident.

According to police reports, McCullough allegedly punched his girlfriend multiple times.

Not only this, he reportedly broke her phone and grabbed her throat until she lost consciousness during an argument in a car.

Officers noted visible injuries on the victim, including a black eye, swollen lip, and bruising around her neck.

McCullough is currently being held without bond as legal proceedings unfold.

This arrest comes less than a year after McCullough survived a horrific car crash in November 2024 that left him critically injured.

While swerving to avoid an oncoming vehicle, he collided with a disabled car at 50 mph, and a tractor-hauling vehicle struck him from behind.

The hood of his own car flew through the windshield, splitting his face across his right eye and nose.

Despite the trauma, he remained conscious, kicked open the door, and called for help, telling his mother he was bleeding out and loved her.

He underwent two major surgeries at Ohio State Hospital, where doctors used titanium plates to reconstruct his face.

The injury was so severe that he lost function in his right eye, which was later surgically removed.

There was also a GoFundMe campaign, “Support Roen’s Emergency Surgery Costs,” for Michael Roen McCullough, which was launched by Josiah Myers.

That campaign raised over $51,000 to support his emergency medical treatment and recovery.

In the months that followed, McCullough shared updates on his healing journey.

In a video interview, he described praying while bleeding out and credited his survival to divine intervention and inner strength.
