Dennis Danko, a respected coach and teacher who made a lasting impact on countless students, passed away on May 7 at the age of 79.
He spent nearly three decades teaching and coaching at Trinity High School and dedicated 38 years of his life to serving the Diocese of Cleveland.
In 2004, Trinity High School honored him by naming its baseball field after him.
Dennis once said that teaching was never just a job to him; it was about helping kids grow and being part of a supportive team of educators.
His influence went beyond sports and textbooks as he was a mentor and a role model to many.

Dennis is survived by his daughter, Carolyn.

He remembered Dennis as a dedicated football and baseball coach and said working alongside him as an assistant in both sports was an honor.

Well, Dennis graduated from St. Edward High School and attended Ball State University on an athletic scholarship.
He earned his degree in 1968 and was certified to teach several subjects, including health, physical education, history, and political science.
After a few early teaching jobs, he found his calling at Trinity High School in 1979.
He coached baseball and football there, eventually becoming head football coach in 1984, a position he held for seven years.
In the classroom, Dennis made history feel real and engaging.
He shared stories and insights that helped students connect with the material meaningfully.
He was a strong leader on the field who taught his players how to win and conduct themselves with respect and responsibility.
