Fabio Quagliarella’s Childhood and Early Life

The former player was born on 31 January 193, in a coastal town in the Bay of Naples, Castellammare di Stabia, Italy. The birthplace of many great sports champions. 

He was born to his mother, Susanna Quagliarella, and father, Vittorio Quagliarella. Like many young boys from his hometown, Quagliarella also dreamt of playing for his Napoli when he grew up. 

Later, in 2017, Quagliarella mentioned that he, along with his family, was threatened by a stalker during his time at Napoli. Due to this, he had to depart from the club. 

Quagliarella’s Career

Fabio Quagliarella started his football career at a young age and morphed his childhood dream into a reality through the journey. 

Early Career

Quagliarella made his debut in Serie A in 2000, taking a 2-1 victory over Piacenza in the Torino Football Club. 

He was sent on a loan to Chieti in Serie C1, where he ended his time with a total record of 19 goals in 43 games. However, he returned to Tornio at the end of the season, for the 2004-2005 season in Serie B. 

During his time at Torino, he was an occasional starter, with a record of seven goals in 34 games. Unfortunately, Fabio was released on a free transfer after the bankruptcy of Torino Club in 2005.

Later, Quagliarella signed a contract with Ascoli Calcio. Likewise, there he was given the starting spot position in the 2005-2006 season. 

Player of Different Teams

In 2005, he signed a contract with Udinese. But, half of his registration rights were sold to a newly promoted Ascholi as part of a co-ownership deal. 

During his stay at Ascoli, he scored three times in 33 appearances and later was repurchased in full by Udinese in 2006. 

Similarly, in 2006 he was sold in co-ownership for an exchange with a transfer to Sampdoria.

In the 2006-2007 season, he had a record of 13 goals in league play. Besides, Quagliarella’s outstanding nature of his goals earned him global attention. 

However, both the teams Udinese and Sampdoria were unable to come to terms on his co-ownership deal and went to a blind auction in 2007.

Likewise, Udinese paid him 7.15 million euros, and he started the 20007-2008 season with just one score in the season’s first 11 games.

Later, however, he formed a partnership with Antonio Di Natale scoring 12 goals in the 2007-2008 season.

During the season, he broke his previous record with 21 goals. Likewise, he scored eight goals in the UEFA Cup, earning his team to reach the quarter-finals.

Fabio Quagliarellla signed for the team Juventus for a fee of 4.5 million euros. Similarly, he was considered one of the team’s top scorers with nine league goals in 17 appearances. 

Despite his good record, due to his right anterior cruciate ligament injury in the first match after winter break. There he missed the rest of the season.

Later in 2011, his contract was redeemed by Juventus for 10.5 million euros, and later, he signed a three-year contract extension to play for Juventus till 2014. 

Also, in the 2012-2013 season, Quagliarella recorded his first brace in a game against Chievo.

Return to Torino 

Fabio Quagliarella signed a three-year contract with Torino after 9 years of playing for alternative teams. Likewise, in his first game against Brommapojkarna, he scored a 3-0 goal from a penalty kick in the 2014-2015 Europa  League. 

Similarly, he secured a win for his team against Cagliari in Serie A with a 2-1.

Return to Sampdoria 

Quagliarella was loaned to Sampdoria with an obligation to buy in Feburary 2016. In a game against Inter Milan, he was able to score his first goal after his return. 

Likewise, he scored his 100th Serie goal in his 343rd league appearance, and he later set up a goal for a teammate with a 3-2 defeat against Sassuolo. 

During a game against Fiorentina in 2018, Fabio Quagliarella scored a hat-trick with a 3-1 victory over the opponent team.

At the final of the 2017-18 Serie A championship, he recorded 19 goals in 35 appearances. Furthermore, Quagliarella’s performance was considered one of the best scorers of the championship.

In the 2018-19 Sere A season, during a game against Napoli, he scored the final goal of a 3-0 win against the opponent team.

Similarly, his goal was considered a “sensational” backheel volley by the BBC. Later, Quagliarella himself cited the goal as the best of his career. 

With his performance, Quagliarella was able to overtake Christian Vieri in 28th place in Serie A’s all-time goalscoring charts with his 143rd Serie A goal. 

At the end of the season, Fabio recorded 26 Serie A goals for his former team, Sampdoria, earning the Capocannoniere title.

Similarly, he was also named the Serie A Best Forward and the Serie A Team of the Year.

International Career

Starting from 2000 till the 2005 season, Fabio Quagloarella became a member of Azzurrini, an Italian youth side. Quagliarella made his debut in the Italy U17 team in a game against Slovakia. 

Similarly, during the 2002 UEFA European Under-19 Championship qualifying campaign, he also became a member of the Italy U19 team. 

In a Euro 2008 qualifier, Quaglorella was able to make his senior debut for Italy in 2007. Furthermore, he substituted for Luca Toni in a game against Scotland, winning over the opponent with 2-0 points. 

Likewise, he became a player in the Italian UEFA Euro 2008 squad with an appearance during Italy’s second group match.

During a game against Finland, he came off the bench in the 80th minute for Italy.
