Mardochee Simon, an undergraduate psychology major from Fort Myers, passed away at the age of 21 on December 7, 2025.
His brother, Sam Simon, shared the tragic news of his passing with a heavy heart on social media.
Mardochee Simon was a force on the defensive line on the football field at Lehigh High School. He wore a jersey number 54 and played as a Defensive End and Tackle.
He disrupted opponents’ plays using his 5’8″ and 185lbs frame with determination and skill.
After his high school graduation, he channeled his focus into a new pursuit at Florida A&M University. He chose to major in psychology, shifting his attention from tackling opponents to understanding the human mind.

FAMU Family Receives Degree for Fallen Scholar Mardochee Simon
Mardochee Simon was a bright and beloved son, brother, friend, and scholar.
Sadly, he passed away at 21, just one week shy of achieving his college graduation. He was on the cusp of a future filled with promise.
Mardochee was a dedicated undergraduate psychology major at Florida A&M University (FAMU).
His life was tragically cut short, but was marked by an extraordinary depth of warmth, kindness, and genuine care for others.
He moved through the world with a signature positivity, offering unwavering encouragement and support to classmates, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to cross his path.
Above all, Simon was a devoted son and a loyal brother.
His father, Pastor Raymond Simon; his brother, Sam Simon; and his entire family are left to cherish his memory and the indelible imprint he made on their lives.

We honor Mardochee’s life, his hard work, and the legacy he leaves behind. Though he is not here in the way we wish, his accomplishment still speaks.
In a poignant tribute to his determination and accomplishment, his family walked across the stage during FAMU’s commencement ceremony to receive the degree he had earned.
In a further twist of poignant timing, his brother Sam shared the tragic news of Mardochee’s passing on his own birthday.
I have no words. My heart is DEVASTATED. All I can do is feel the sting of losing someone whose life was heavily tied to mine. I love my brother, he was a central part of our family. And losing him has carved a mark in me that I’m still trying to understand.

Mardochee was known for his ability to make everyone feel valued within the FAMU community. He forged meaningful connections with ease, building a circle of friends and admirers who were drawn to his authentic and caring nature.
His untimely departure has left a void in the hearts of his family, his countless friends, his classmates, and the university community.
He was a beacon of light whose memory will continue to inspire and guide those who knew him.
The Simon family will soon announce the memorial service, and they request privacy as they navigate this unimaginable loss.
They take comfort in the knowledge that his spirit, warmth, kindness, and loving heart will forever resonate in the countless lives he touched.
