A 2023 graduate of Brookline High School, Nicolas “Nico” Braun, passed away in a car crash in November 2025 on Goddard Avenue at the young age of 21.
The Brookline resident, Nico Braun, died last week, succumbing to the injuries sustained in a car crash on Goddard Avenue.
Reportedly, it happened around 2:30 in the morning on November 10, when Nico was driving alone on Goddard Avenue, near the Park School, when his car hit a tree.
Police rushed him to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, but unfortunately, he succumbed to the injuries a few days later.
Meanwhile, the police are still trying to figure out exactly what caused the crash.
Nico Braun played varsity football and track at Brookline High School. On the football team, he was an all-conference wide receiver and defensive back.
Everyone who knew him remembers him as a fantastic athlete.
His football coach, Chad Hunte, said,
He was the ultimate competitor, a hard-working kid, a joy to always have around. He loved being around his teammates and his friends.

On the track team, he was a sprinter with a big personality.
Michael Glennon, his BHS track coach, said:
As a sprinter on the track team, Braun was “a character” and the “type of kid that everyone was drawn to. He had a joy for life, and that showed through. He’s one of the few kids that could break my more tough and calm exterior.

In 2023, Nico even ran at the New Balance National Indoor Championship.
After high school, Nico went to Bridgton Academy in Maine to keep playing football and later attended Virginia Tech.
Coach Hunte said even after graduating, Nico would still come back to Brookline all the time to help with the football program or shoot hoops.
“We talked every week. He’s sorely missed,” he added.
Thus far, details surrounding his funeral and memorial service haven’t been made public.
During this challenging phase, we pray for the strength of Nico’s parents, friends, teammates, and extended family.
Rest In Heavenly Peace, Nico Braun!
