Bob Goodenow was a Harvard hockey captain, a minor league player, and later a skilled attorney.
He was the Executive Director of the NHL Players’ Association (NHLPA) from 1992 to 2005.
After stepping down in 2005 following the resolution of the NHL lockout and the implementation of a salary cap, Goodenow remained out of the public hockey scene.
Tragically, he passed away on September 13, 2025, at the age of 72. The NHLPA confirmed his death, though the cause was not publicly disclosed.
