Former Husker football player David Noonan passed away at 53 in a tragic accident.

Standing 6 feet 3 inches, David Noonan, born November 11, 1971, in Lincoln, Nebraska, was a defensive player on the Nebraska football team from 1989 to 1993.

His official LinkedIn profile shows he received his bachelor’s degree in Physiology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1994.

Noonan received his master’s degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 1996. He has also presented at the USA Hockey and European Hockey Associations.

In 2003, he founded Athlete Construction LLC, which provided sports-specific training programs for youth athletes and spinal rehab patients.

He was a director of sports performance and a teacher at the University of Nebraska at Omaha for over 19 years.

Former Football Player David Noonan Died After His SUV Collided With A Semi-Truck

David Noonan of La Vista lost his life on Sunday, March 30, 2025, at 53, after he was involved in a tragic accident in Cass County south of Elmwood.

According to the investigators, David’s westbound SUV diverged into the eastbound lanes of Highway 34 and collided with an eastbound semi-truck.

While David was pronounced dead at the scene, the semi-truck driver was taken to Lincoln Hospital with minor injuries.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office and the Nebraska State Patrol are still investigating the incident.

Jim King, customer service specialist at Schoen’s Roofing LLC, took his official Facebook handle to mourn the tragic loss of David. He wrote,

Jeff Buss shared a tribute post for David on a public group named Lincoln Northeast High School Alumni – Nebraska and wrote,

Other close ones and relatives have also poured their heartfelt condolences and sent prayers to David’s family to stay strong in this heartbreaking moment.

According to David’s family, visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, from 3 to 5 p.m., then resume at 6 p.m. at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church with a Vigil Service at 7 p.m.

A mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at 10:30 a.m.

David will always be remembered for his unforgettable contributions as the founder of Noonan Fitness and Athlete Construction LLC.

Eugene Noonan and Donna Noonan-Kaura are heartbroken after receiving the devastating news about their son, David Noonan.

Although his parents avoided the media, they have always supported David personally and professionally.

Currently, Eugene and Donna are mourning the tragic loss of their son, David.

David is also survived by his brother Danny, a former American professional football player who was a defensive end in the NFL for the Dallas Cowboys and Green Bay Packers.

Recently, Danny remembered the time he spent with David and said,

“I gave him lots of beat downs when he was a little boy, that’s for sure,” “He would tease me, and I would tease him.”

“It’s just now sinking in, the last– basically half an hour,”
