The Texas flood hero lost his life, but his fiancée, Christinia Wilson, is keeping his memory alive.

A Texas community is mourning the loss of 27-year-old Julian Ryan, a devoted father and fiancé who sacrificed his life trying to save his family during the catastrophic floods that struck Ingram, Texas, on July 4.

The deadly flooding, fueled by the sudden rise of the Guadalupe River, left devastation in its wake, claiming dozens of lives and leaving families shattered.

In the early hours of that Friday morning, Julian, his fiancée Christinia Wilson, their two young children, and his mother were asleep at their home when the water began to surge.

The river, swollen by relentless rain, rose over 30 feet beyond its usual level, giving residents little time to react.

Within minutes, water poured into their home. “It just started pouring in, and we had to fight the door to get it closed to make sure not too much got in,” Wilson recalled.

But despite their efforts, the water continued to rise rapidly, flooding their trailer home and cutting off any clear escape route.

In a desperate attempt to save his loved ones, Julian punched through a window, creating a path to safety. But the heroic act came at a terrible cost — the glass severed an artery in his arm, nearly cutting it clean off.

As the family called 911 repeatedly, emergency crews struggled to reach them in time.

Despite his critical injury, Julian remained focused on his family. But as his strength faded, he uttered his final, heartbreaking words:

“I’m sorry, I’m not going to make it. I love y’all.”

Hours later, after the floodwaters receded, Julian’s body was recovered.

His loved ones have since hailed him as the hero he was — a man who, in his final moments, fought for his family with everything he had.

Despite Tragedy, Julian Ryan’s Fiancée Stands Strong and Honors the Hero He Was

While Julian Ryan’s bravery has captured the attention of many, his fiancée, Christinia Wilson, is now left to navigate life without the man she loved — but with an unwavering determination to honor his memory.

Christinia, who lives in Kerrville, Texas, originally hails from Gainesville.

The couple had been building a life together in Ingram, raising their two children in the heart of Texas Hill Country.

Their love story reached a milestone last year when they got engaged on July 31, 2023, a moment that promised a future now painfully altered by tragedy.

In the aftermath of Julian’s death, Christinia has been the voice of both grief and resilience.

Through tears, she has shared her fiancé’s final moments with the world — not to dwell on sorrow, but to ensure that his courage is never forgotten.

He was the best father,” Christinia said, describing the man who always had a smile on his face and was quick to help anyone in need.

“Julian gave his life for his family, passing as a true hero. While his family is eternally grateful for his sacrifice, they are shattered by their loss.”

Christinia’s love for Julian is evident in every word she speaks. Despite the heartbreak, she carries herself with quiet strength — the same strength that helped her guide their two young children to safety as floodwaters ripped their home apart.

Now, as search and rescue efforts continue across the devastated region, Christinia is also calling for change.

She believes early warning systems like flood sirens could have made all the difference.

We had so many places that were safe. If we’d heard a siren, we would’ve left,” she said, reflecting on the events that unfolded that tragic morning.

Beyond the grief and the unanswered questions, one thing remains clear: Christinia Wilson is determined to honor Julian’s legacy — not only by keeping his memory alive for their children but also by demanding that no other family has to endure such preventable heartbreak.

The family’s GoFundMe page has raised thousands to help ease the financial burden left by Julian’s untimely death, but no amount of money can fill the void left behind.

Still, with the support of her loved ones and the community, Christinia is holding on to what Julian left behind — love, family, and the undeniable reminder that heroes walk among us, even in their final moments.
