Former Southwest Missouri State University Football Player, John Goodman’s Daughter Molly, Is A Film Production Assistant

Molly Evangeline Goodman is the only child of Former Southwest Missouri State University Footballer and acclaimed Actor John Stephen Stephan, who works as a Film and TV production professional, and Anna Beth Goodman, an educator and an entrepreneur.

She was born on August 31, 1990, and prefers to stay out of the limelight, unlike her father, who has starred in over 180 movies and TV Shows. His latest film, The Smurfs, was released on July 18, 2025, in which he voices Papa Smurf.

Though the actor has had a very successful career in acting, he initially started as a Football player.

John’s sports journey began in high school. He even earned a football scholarship to Southwest Missouri State University, in the hope of pursuing a Football career.

Unfortunately, due to setbacks including serious injuries and academic challenges, Goodman shifted to drama and theater.

Molly Has Had Multiple Roles In Her Career

Although Molly has been in a similar profession to her father, her job as a Film Production Assistant has helped her maintain a more private identity.

New Girl, Aquarius, and The Last Tycoon are some of the TV productions she co-assisted on. Her film projects include Funny or Die, Different Flowers, Traitor Knight, and A Love Saga.

She has also worked as a set dresser and art department coordinator over the years, thanks to her degree in Film and Television Production.

John Goodman’s daughter has also chosen someone from the Film Industry itself, Edd Benda. The couple first met in 2009, before reuniting later in New Orleans.

After several years of dating, the couple got engaged on October 3, 2020, in Santa Barbara. They finally tied the knot on March 5, 2022.
