Adam John Thielen, born on August 22, 1990, in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, is an American former professional wide receiver who played 13 seasons in the NFL.

After starring in multiple sports at Detroit Lakes High School, Thielen attended Minnesota State University, Mankato, where he became one of the program’s top receivers, finishing near the top in career receiving yards, receptions, and touchdowns.

Despite his college success, Thielen went undrafted in 2013 but signed with the Minnesota Vikings as a free agent.

He quickly impressed coaches with his athleticism and work ethic, earning a roster spot in 2014.

Thielen became a standout receiver for the Vikings, setting records such as eight consecutive 100-yard games and achieving a 1,000-yard season alongside multiple Pro Bowl selections.

In 2023, Thielen signed with the Carolina Panthers, continuing to excel on the field with over 1,000 receiving yards in his first season with the team.

He returned to the Vikings in 2025 and later finished his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers before announcing his retirement in January 2026.

Thielen’s journey from undrafted player to NFL star exemplifies perseverance, talent, and dedication to the game.

The family relocated from Minnesota to Charlotte, North Carolina, in 2023 when Thielen joined the Panthers, embracing a new city while keeping a strong focus on family life.

Asher, the oldest, was born around 2016–2017 and started first grade in 2023.

Known for his excitement over his dad’s NFL career, Asher reportedly had tears of joy when the family returned to Minnesota in 2025.

Their middle child, Hudson James Thielen, born in January 2019, attends preschool and has shared adorable moments dressing up as his dad, complete with custom PRIZM football cards.
