Moving to Paul Stewart Racing in 1992, de Ferran won the championship with seven victories. This marked the beginning of his successful career, including triumphs in IndyCar racing, such as winning the Indianapolis 500 in 2003.

In terms of his Formula One managerial career, Gil overtook three different stints with BAR-Honda and McLaren with varying degrees of success. Additionally, he also tried his hand in team ownership with De Ferran Motorsports racing in the Le Mans Series.

Gil De Ferran’s Death At The Age Of 56

In a recent tragic piece of news, Gil De Ferran passed away at the age of 56 leaving the motorsports world in a state of mourning.

The Brazilian Automobile Confederation (CBA) reported that De Ferran experienced a heart attack at a private racing facility in Opa-Locka, Florida, last Friday. Furthermore, they stated he was promptly taken to a local hospital but did not survive.

Commencing the news, racing legends and personalities have posted tribute messages and appreciation posts on social media. The McLaren F1 team released a statement recognizing Gil’s great career and contributions.

“Everyone at McLaren Racing is shocked and deeply saddened to learn we have lost a beloved member of our McLaren family. Gil was an important and integral part of our Racing team.”

Similarly, other prominent names like Martin Brundle and Roger Penske have also shared their condolences. Brundle remembered Gil’s family and his children. On the other hand, Roger remembered the Brazilian for his career accolades.
