Earlier this year, the 20-year-old Vanderbilt University student Gordon Sargent took the golf world by storm as he debuted in the 2023 Masters Tournament featuring Jon Rahm and Patrick Reed.
The youngster recently made his US Open debut and was involved in a freak accident. Sargent had his two-and-a-half-foot putt bounce out of the hole but ended the tournament with low amateur honors.

The golfer has left a sarcastic comment on the post tagging his other friend, “Can you believe we got tagged in the Emma-approved post?”
He has been tagged in similar posts in the past, which reflects Emma’s monthly or weekly roundup.
Who Is Emma Mueller?
Emma and Gordon might have crossed paths for the first time at Vanderbilt University as they are currently sophomores at the prestigious university.
Like Gordon, Emma is also an athlete but not a golf player. Mueller is a soccer player for Vanderbilt and previously graduated high school from St. Joseph’s Academy.
Emma was part of the First Team All-Conference in 2018 and 2019 while in high school. She was also the National High School All-American Spring State Star.
Along with being a serious athlete, Emma has earned honor roll nods in academics. She has been part of the National Honor Society, Math Honor Society, and Social Studies Honor Society.
But since joining Vanderbilt, soccer might have taken a backseat in Emma’s career. Emma has only made four appearances for the Black and Gold in her last two seasons.

Born on May 27, 2003, Gordon Sargent grew up alongside his little brother, Thomas Sargent, in Birmingham, Alabama.
The boys’ father, Seth Sargent, is a former amateur golfer but never forced his sons to pick the same sport or career path as him.
Despite being a successful amateur golfer, Seth decided to lean toward the corporate world.
Seth is currently the Vice President at Hoar Construction and is a graduate of the University of Georgia. He had previously worked in the healthcare industry for more than two decades.
Gordon’s mother, Monica Sargent, is a partner at Balch & Bingham LLP, specializing in the energy industry. She received her JD from Samford University in 1997 and has worked with Balch and Bingham for 25 years.
