Dallas Cowboys Head Coach Brian Schottenheimer Grew Up In A Football-Centered Environment Along With His Only Sibling, Kristen!

This article was last updated by on

Brian Schottenheimer, now head coach of the Dallas Cowboys, shares a strong family legacy with his sister, Kristen (Kristi) Schottenheimer, who built a career in marketing and fitness.

Brian Schottenheimer is the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys and the son of legendary NFL coach Marty Schottenheimer.

Recently, he made headlines following the Cowboys’ emotional Monday Night Football win over the Raiders.

He honored the late defensive end Marshawn Kneeland by wearing a team shirt in his memory.

Reflecting on the victory, Schottenheimer admitted he was moved to tears when putting on the shirt, saying he believed Kneeland was “looking down on us.”

Brian Schottenheimer’s Sister, Kristen, Has Built a Diverse Career in Marketing, Communications, and Fitness!

Brian Schottenheimer was raised in a football-centered and supportive environment alongside his sister, Kristen (Kristi), under the guidance of their parents, Marty and Pat Schottenheimer.

Unlike her father and brother, Kristi has chosen a life outside the football spotlight, focusing instead on family and community.

Born on February 17, 1970, Kristi is a mother of two children, Brandon and Catherine.

She graduated from Miami University in 1992 with a degree in marketing and broadcast journalism.

She worked as a marketing communications manager at Wachovia and later as a VP brand manager at Wells Fargo.

Earlier, she held roles in advertising and broadcasting before moving into fitness.

Since 2010, Kristen has been a coach and trainer at Vitality Fitness, combining her lifelong passion for sports with professional training.

Furthermore, Kristen is also a board member of the Alzheimer’s Association and the founder of SchottyStrong.

She has been actively involved in supporting Alzheimer’s awareness initiatives after her father’s diagnosis.

Regarding Kristen and Brian’s parents, Marty Schottenheimer was a legendary NFL head coach celebrated for his “Martyball” philosophy.

Born on September 23, 1943, in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, he first played linebacker in the AFL and NFL for the Buffalo Bills and Boston Patriots before moving into coaching.

His coaching career spanned over two decades, and he became known for his disciplined, run-heavy style of play.

Sadly, Marty was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2014 and lived with the condition for several years.

Tragically, he passed away on February 8, 2021, in Charlotte, North Carolina, at the age of 77.

On the other hand, his mother, Pat, played a supportive role in his upbringing. His uncle, Kurt Schottenheimer, also worked as a defensive coach in the league.

The Schottenheimer family is remembered not only for their professional achievements but also for their enduring influence on the culture of American football.
