Hubert Hurkacz Sister Nika Hurkacz Is A Tennis Prodigy

Hubert Hurkacz sister, Nika Hurkacz, began an official ITF tennis player in 2022. Nika is 17 years old and is a decade younger than her brother.

The younger sister of Hubert Hurkacz, Nika Hurkacz, had already started winning tennis tournaments on her home soil in 2020.

Nika has already expressed her interest in becoming a professional tennis player like her brother and has received full support from her family.

The Polish tennis star Hubert Hurkacz comes from a family of athletes. His parents excelled in sports, with his mom and uncle winning Polish Championships. 

The 17-year-old won his first title in 2023 at Open 13, defeating Benjamin Bonzi, but has faced disappointment in the last few and was knocked out by JJ Wolf in the Italian Open earlier this month. 

Hurkacz will look to find his form at the French Open and has already progressed in the second round after emerging victorious against David Goffin.  

Hubert Hurkacz Sister Nika Hurkacz Is A Promising Tennis Player 

Hubert Hurkacz’s sister, Nika Hurkacz, is already a famous name in their homeland in Poland.

The 17-year-old sister of Hubert Hurkacz first came into the limelight when she was spotted in the group photo featuring Hubert and his coaching team. The picture came after Hubert’s win at the Terra Wortman Open. 

Since then, Nika has competed in tennis tournaments, won some, and lost some, but most importantly is moving forward in her budding career.

Nika Hurkacz Tennis Career So Far 

Nika started her tennis career in ITF 2022 at the J4 Puszczykowo tournament. She went through the first round beating Marta Podolak of Germany but failed against Barbara Straszewska in the second round. 

She didn’t play in any other tournament that year, and in 2023 has already competed in two events. Nika took part in the J60 Szczecin on February 14 and reached the quarterfinals.

She competed in another tournament a week later, J60 Warsaw, but went out in the first round. Nika also began competing in doubles events from this year with J60 Warsaw.

She partnered with Ukrainian player Yevheniia Zelenska, but the two lost out against the sister duo of Anna and Emma Dvorackova in the first round. 

Currently, Nika is ranked 3326 overall in ITF Junior doubles and 3326 in ITF Junior overall singles. 

Previously, Nika participated in cadet tournaments and won the OTK tournament in 2021. A year earlier, she won the same tournament with her doubles partner Oliwia Jędrzejak.

Hubert Shares A Strong Bond With His Sister 

In an interview with a Polish website in 2019, Hubert was asked if he was the only child. The tennis star quickly replied he had a 12-year-old sister and shared that he had a very good relationship with her. 

Like her brother Hubert, Nika started tennis at a young age. Their father, Krzysztof Hurkacz, talked to Super Express and said they didn’t want to push Nika too much and put pressure on her. 

She has told her family about her big ambitions and wants to follow in her brother’s footsteps.

Nika had previously featured in the Polish TV program Dzień Dobry TVN and talked about her tennis career and the fact she started running around the tennis court at age 3-4.

Hubert Hurkacz comes from a sporty background, with his parents being former athletes. 

The love for sports in the Hurkacz family began with his grandfather, who played volleyball. His father, Krzysztof Hurkacz, was a water polo player in his heyday.

But is now an economist and a general director of DaVita, a Polish company in the nephrology industry.

He has worked in the nephrology industry for 20 years and graduated with a management and computer science degree from Wrocław University of Economics.

Hubert’s mother, Zofia, is a former tennis player and won the Polish Championships. In an interview with Rzeczpospolita, Hubert said he learned to play tennis from his mom. 

The 26-year-old has also previously talked about how his family helped him financially and never blocked his dream of becoming a tennis player.
