A coach is sharing his painful journey of sacrifice, loss, and dismissal after choosing baseball over being at his dying father’s bedside.

In his post, Garrett Morman recounted the painful reality of balancing his coaching duties with his father’s final days.

Despite knowing his father was dying, he left the hospital to attend baseball practice, missing his father’s last moments.

He even left his father’s funeral early to travel and coach his team, only to be fired the very next morning.

The consequences weighed heavily on him; he realized that while he had devoted years to coaching, it had cost him precious time with loved ones.

He felt disappointed but not angry, and was determined to put himself first moving forward.

A Coach Was Fired the Day After Dedicating Himself to His Team, Even as His Father Passed Away!

Garrett Morman explained on Facebook that he had written and deleted the post dozens of times before finally sharing it after spending Christmas alone.

He described his long coaching career, the sacrifices he made, and how poorly the situation was handled when he was dismissed.

His focus was on the imbalance between his passion for coaching and the personal losses it brought.

Further, he emphasized that he had given his time, money, and heart without asking for anything in return.

He concluded his post by saying that as 2025 ends, he is choosing to prioritize himself in 2026, no longer allowing others to “use and abuse” him.

People reacted strongly to Garrett’s post, sharing their own points of view and offering support.

One commenter shared their POV, highlighting their frustration, saying,

That because whoever is the owner of this organization is a dick… No one cares anymore brother I think it’s absolute BS that they fired you for this especially since your dad was passing away…
