Aaron Nesmith scored 30 points, helping the visiting Indiana Pacers rally for a 138-135 victory against the New York Knicks in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals on Wednesday, May 21, 2025.
Nesmith made six 3-point attempts before the end of regulation and became the first player to hit that many three-pointers in a final frame of a playoff game in NBA history.
He drained a pair of free throws for 20 points in the quarter to help lift the Blue & Gold to an improbable 138-135 overtime win over the Knicks at Madison Square Garden.
Altogether, Nesmith scored a playoff career-high 30 points, finishing 9-for-13 shooting, including 8-for-9 from 3-point range, while also guarding Knicks star point guard Jalen Brunson.
Before Wednesday night’s stat line, Nesmith’s playoff career high was 23 points in a game, the only time he scored more than 2 in a postseason contest. His previous high for 3-pointers made in a postseason game was 5.
After the match, Nesmith said,
“I was just doing what the team needed of me,” “I was just letting them fly. I was in a good rhythm. I didn’t really realize what I was doing in the moment. I was just trying to win the basketball game.”
