What Is Andy Murray Religion?

Many have speculated Andy is Muslim, while some say that he is Jewish, and the rest has claimed him to be Christian.

Regardless of all the rumors, it is unknown if Andy Murray is religious because he is private when it comes to his beliefs.

However, the Olympic Champion tied the knot with his wife, Kim Sears, in Dunblane Cathedral, which is a member of The Church of Scotland.

Hence, we can assume that he is following the Christian faith. The wedding only had their close friends and families.

Moreover, Andy is of mixed ethnicity as he is Scottish-English.

The tennis star was born in Glasgow, Scotland, to Judy Murray and William Murray.

Andy is also the grandson of Roy Erskine, a pro soccer player who played for clubs like Hibernian. The athleticism may have also rubbed into Andy.

Judy, after her separation from William, raised Andy and his brother Jamie in a loving environment.

He was also born with a defective kneecap called “Patella” however, it did not stop him whatsoever.

Moreover, the 38-year-old was not diagnosed with the disease until he was 16.

Andy Murray Dunblane School Massacre

The three-time Grand Slam winner also has an involvement in one of the tragic incidents of the world, “The Dunblane Massacre.”

The Dunblane massacre took place at Dunblane Primary School when Thomas Hamilton shot at the school.

Furthermore, it took place on 13 March 1996, and the incident resulted in the death of 16 students and a teacher.

The incident remains the worst mass shooting in the UK. The killings resulted in a public debate on gun control laws. A petition to ban private ownership of handguns took place.

As a result, the petition helped two new Firearms Acts be added.

Unluckily, the Murray brothers were present during the massacre, they took cover in the classroom.

Additionally, the future tennis star was too young to understand the situation they were in and has always avoided the questions regarding the Massacre.
