At the age of sixty-three, his accomplice, Van Brett Watkins, a hitman convicted for his part in the scheme, passed away.
Watkins admitted to firing the rounds that wounded Adams, Carruths’ girlfriend, in 1999, along with another accomplice.
He was found guilty of conspiracy, second-degree murder, and other offenses. The disciplinary records indicate that his anticipated release date from prison was 2045.
Watkins served his time for 20 years before dying on December 3 at a hospital due to natural causes.
