As a child, Isaiah lived with his mother, but later, he and his brother, Martin, moved in permanently with his father.
Growing up Isaiah was an active athlete and played football and boxing as a child. However, he shifted to basketball due to his height.

On January 21, 2019, he committed to playing college basketball for Washington.
After completing his college career, Stewart began his NBA journey, being drafted 16th overall by the Portland Trail Blazers in the 2020 NBA draft.
Currently, Isaiah Stewart II competes professionally for the Detroit Pistons in the NBA.

Isaiah Stewart was born on May 22, 2001, in Rochester, New York, U.S., to his parents, Dela and Shameka Holloway.
His father, Dela Stewart hails from a northeast Jamaica town called Saint Mary. After quitting school, he was a fisherman in Jamaica before accepting a sugar cane cutting job in South Florida in the late 1970s.
Dela moved to America when he was twenty years old. He was part of a program where they needed people down by the Everglades, where they cut the sugar cane.
After arriving in America and living there, Dela decided to live there, and while he was in Rochester, he met Isaiah’s mom, Shameka Holloway.

Isaiah’s parents divorced when he was young, and he initially lived with his mother before transitioning to his father’s care.
Despite their separation, Isaiah’s parents have supported him throughout his journey. They were present when Isaiah committed to Washington in 2019, demonstrating their unwavering support for his achievements.
Isaiah Shares Close Bond With His Father
NBA Star Isaiah shares a very good connection with his father then his mother. He even lived with his father until he was in college.
Stewart credits his father for giving him the courage and hardworking capacity to this day. He says, “I just saw my dad work so hard. At a young age, he showed me what hard work is like, what work ethic is like. That’s just something inside of me, and it’s the way I go about life.”

Dela sacrificed a lot for his son and family. He Left his family behind, not seeing his parents again until they passed away. He wanted a better life and didn’t want his children to share his experiences.
He did, though, want his kids to carry the same values and work ethic that made him who he was.
