Jalen McDaniels | Legal Controversy
Two women filed separate civil lawsuits against McDaniels in December 2018. He was in high school then.
The women accused the San Diego State basketball player of using his phone to film them while performing intimate acts. They further claimed that the videos were taken without their consent.
Moreover, McDaniels was accused of sharing the video with friends while they were classmates at Federal Way High school, Washington.
The San Diego University brought McDaniel in the media 2.5 months after the accusation was made. He did not answer specific questions and referred to his attorney.
Nonetheless, King County Superior Court made him address the women’s accusations line by line.
Apology
Later Jalen admitted the guilt in court documents, stating that he recorded both alleged videos.
Further, he also accepted that he shared them with a small group of friends and then deleted them shortly afterward.
Likewise, McDaniels said that he had sincerely apologized to both the victims for the conduct. No crime is light weighted or casual.
Any crime against any citizen is unacceptable, no matter what the context is. The San Diego basketball player has perpetrated crimes against the dignity of females.
There were two separate legal suits, justifying that the crimes were committed separately. Yet, he had the guts to repeat the same mistake for the second time.
The repetitive factor sabotages his apology because he would not have done it again if he had been sorry for what he had done earlier.
Both females said that the experiences sent their lives on a downward spiral. As a consequence of that tragic event, both of them later tried to commit suicide.
However, the action was deemed to be mere stupidity with no serious steps taken. A woman’s dignity was intentionally shattered. Is it okay to settle the matter with fines and compensations?
